Exploring Boston

What a day today.  We started out by finding a place a little cheaper than the Hotel to go out for breakfast.  After that we head off to the Aquarium.  We saw some beautiful fish.  I very much enjoy seeing the different types of fish in the ocean.  Next we headed off to The Old North Church.    This was the church that Paul Revere attended.   Next we stopped at the Modern Pastry shop and enjoyed a treat with a coffee.  We than headed off to see the Paul Revere House.  We were still raring to go and decided to take the Boston Harbour Cruise on the Port Independence.  This was a 45 minute cruise that made a 1 hour stop at the USS Constitution.  All of us really enjoyed the tour of this ship even though we were not expecting it.  Finally exhausted, we stopped for dinner at Durgin Park.  With feet throbbing, we than headed back to our hotel room for a little rest and were planning on meeting for a final nightcap in the Hotel Bar.  Weather wasn't great today.  We had our fare share of rain, but we did not let it bother us.

A Trip to Fenway Park

We started the day by sleeping in a bit after a late night.  We met for breakfast in the lobby at 9:00 and enjoyed the buffet breakfast at the Hotel.  After breakfast we took the Trolley ride again to stop #7, the real Cheers Bar.  We walked around Copley Square, saw some of the gardens and headed to Fenway Park.  We enjoyed some lunch at The Bleacher Bar which is inside the Green Monster.  After lunch we did some shopping at the Guitar Centre and then we did the Fenway Park Tour.   Because there was no game going on we were able to sit in the Press Box.  We found out the seats in the green monster you have to enter a draw to be able to purchase the seats.  They were setting up the Stadium for a concert to beheld on Saturday.  We stopped for a drink at the Beer Brewery.  I tried a Peach Beer but didn’t really like it.   We went for dinner at a Fish Restaurant called No Name.  They had pictures of people who enjoyed the restaurant such as Emerall, Kirk Douglas and other famous people.  We were not to impressed with the meal.  Afterwards we watched the last period of the hockey game at the Hotel lounge and were ready to turn in.

Dinner at The Green Dragon

We enjoyed supper at the Green Dragon.  They had an awesome Cottage Pie made up of Chicken instead of hamburger meat.  Very tasty.  We met up with Patrick (a friend Liz had met through her work) and enjoyed an evening with a live band.  Ed ended up playing a song with the band.  It was a fun night.

Whale Watching, Cheers and Beantown Trolley Tours

Today was a busy day.  We started out the morning going Whale Watching.  At first we thought we were not going to have any success and finally we found a loan Humpback Whale.  We were able to get a few shots.  The whale was diving deep for food and would be goine for almost 10 minutes before he came up again.  After whale watching we had lunch at Cheers.  That was fun.  This was the site that re-enacted the scene of bars but not the actual place.  We went on a Trolley Tour after lunch and there we saw the location of the real Cheers.  We started the day with rain and ended the Trolley Tour with rain.  Our Trolley Tour driver drove us straight to our Hotel which was really nice.  Now we are getting ready for supper.

Off to Boston - June 8th, 2011

We were up at 6:00 and on the road by 6:30.  We crossed the border at Rainbow Bridge with no issues and headed off to the airport.  We were nice and early as everything went smoothly.  The flight was about an hour to get here.  We are staying at the Westin Hotel along the Harbourfront.  Today we decided to get our bearings and check out the area.  It was warm today (in the 90's).  I have blisters on my feet already.  The Boston / Vancouver Stanley cup game was playing (round 4) and Boston won to tie up the series.  We enjoyed an Italian dinner at Trattoria Il Panino.  Tony's company name is Tristar Mechanical and he found a Truck labelled Tristar Worldwide.  The poor driver thought he hit Tony who was only checking out the name on the truck.

Hot Day of Golf at Ladies League

We had an awesome day to golf. The weather was finally hot. Still wet and still cart path only, but are balls actually rolled if we kept them in the fairway. We had a duck that wouldn't move, even though we hit close to it. We also saw a turtle on the first hole. This was not Claudia's favourite 9 to play. Next week we play the west course.
