The Ride Home

Today we were up around 7:20 and started packing our final supplies.  Grace was up early to take some sunrise pictures again, but we didn't have much of a sunrise.  We had the truck packed and ready to roll by 8:30.  We enjoyed our final breakfast at the Sea Captains House.  Afterwards Grace and Ralph took some quick pictures by the beach.  We were ready to hit the road by 9:30.  We picked up a Starbucks and off we went.  I should have been working on my book for this years vacation, but I had gotten a really good book from Grace to read and it is turning out really good.  It was hard to put the book down and work on my Holiday book.  Managed to get a few pages done.  Tomorrow will be better as we still have a 6 to 9 hour drive to get home.

Caledonia

Today we golfed at Caledonia.  This course was in beautiful shape.  It was very challenging but fun to play.  I was finally getting things to come together a bit better but still needed to get my putting in order.    After golf we went home and did our wash and started packing our suitcases.  It was tight but we managed to get all in our suitcases again.  We had reservations for 7:00 at a Restaurant called The Library.  The service was awesome and the dinner was delicious.  Grace, Lawrence and I enjoyed some She Crab soup, while Ralph had the Bahla, Bahla soup (split pea with shrimp and crab).  They started the soup with some sherry and toasted almonds and than added the soup on top.  The soup left you wanting more.  For dinner, Grace Ralph and Lawrence had the Grouper with Crab and Lobster Champagne sauce while I enjoyed some Veal with Artichokes and Mushrooms.  The food melted in your mouth.  Very yummy.  Good way to end our final evening in Myrtle Beach.  We tried once again to watch the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark.  This time we didn't even make it up to the ants.  One of these days we will be able to see the whole show.  Tomorrow we get to sleep in until 7:30 instead of getting up at 5:30.  Our goal is to be on the road by around 9:30.

Long Bay

Today we played Long Bay.  This is a very challenging course.  If your ball goes in the long grass it just sinks and makes it very difficult to find your ball back.  Lost a few balls today, so my suit case should be a little lighter.  We did some final shopping stops and than enjoyed a drink on the balcony at the Hotel.  It was fun to watch the water and see some of the fish come to the surface of the water.  For dinner we went to Liberty at Broadway on the Beach.  We walked the circle of Broadway at the Beach after dinner.  Lots of changes there but not a lot stores that we would really like to shop in.  We decided to go back to the room and enjoy some time on the Balcony again.  Very relaxing.  We had our last competition today.  We drew least amount of putts for the day.  Ralph was once again the winner.  Whoohoo!!

Tournament Players Club (TPC)

Today we went to TPC and enjoyed a round of golf.  It started out quite windy and a little cooler but there was no rain in sight so all was good.  This course was challenging as you had to get on the greens in the middle, otherwise you would be rolling right off of them.  Today Lawrence had the shot of the day by hitting Grace right on the foot.  She certainly knew how to put on a show.  After golf we did a little bit more shopping and then we decided to spend some time at the Hotel.  We went for a short walk along the beach and had some fun chasing the seagulls.  It had gotten quite cloudy and there were not to many people on the beach.  For dinner we went to the Carolina Roadhouse.  We had a wonderful meal but everything seem to vome in doubles so we had lots of leftovers.  Today we had another competition draw.  The draw for the day was best score from holes 3, 7, 11 and 17 and total putts from 4, 8, 12 and 16.  Tonight Grace was the winner.

Grande Dunes - Resort

Today we were up at 5:30 again and ready to go for breakfast at the Sea Captains House.  After breakfast we headed off to the Grande Dunes - Resort.   We were not sure what to expect because we did not really like the Members Club of the Grande Dunes which we played on Monday.  We were pleasantly surprised as this course was a lot of fun and very challenging.  The grounds were still a little wet from all the rain.  The greens rolled really fast and you had to be pretty accurate on your shots which I wasn't at this time.  Still we had lots of fun.  We went to another Tanger Outlet Mall and did a bit more shopping.  We headed home and had a little snack before going to the Tiki Bar where they had a presentation for the people who had booked golf packages.  They were serving boxes of Pizza at this event.  None of us came home with a prize this time.  We came back to our room to relax for the evening.  We only have 4 prizes for golf, so tonight we get a break and no draw for a winner.

Myrtle Beach National - North Course - Brrrrrrr

We woke up at 5:30 again and debated whether we should go golfing today or not.  The weather wasn't supposed to be too promising.  It was dry so we decided to go and see what happens.  We had gotten used to temperatures in the high 80's and all of a sudden the temperature was 60 degrees.  We had patches of drizzle every once in a while but not a heavy down pour like we had yesterday.  After our round of golf we went to the Tanger Outlet Mall and did some shopping.  We went for a "late" dinner tonight at Gordon Biersch.  The Lobster Bisque was awesome.  It is raining quite steady this evening and should be minor patches of rain tomorrow.  After that the forecast warms up again.  Phew!!!  Today we had another draw for a $25.00 gift card from Golf Town.  The competition was for the person who had the least score on holes 5, 8, 13 and 16 for total score plus putts.  Ralph was the winner a second time.  Lawrence got to present his gift certificate this time.
