Back to Halifax
We woke up to a cooler overcast day. Today we were finishing off our loop and heading back to Halifax. Check in for our Hotel was at 3 so we parked the car in the Hotel parking lot and went for a walk along the boardwalk. We saw a fairly large jellyfish in the water but it did not turn out in pictures. It had a purplish tinge to it. Pretty cool to see. We stopped for a Tim's and than headed back to the hotel. It has been a fairly busy week so we are relaxing tonight before heading home tomorrow. A lot of memories from our family trip came flooding back to us.

Ferries, Lighthouses and Whales
Today we headed to Brier Island to go on a whale watching cruise. We were told to call beforehand to make sure all was a go. At this point they were unsure as the winds were a little high. We decided to head there and give it a try. It took us a little over an hour and a half to get there with 2 ferry rides. We were lucky we were early because we heard one of the ferries broke down causing a lengthy delay. When we arrived they still did not know if the cruise was a go or not but would know by 12:00. We decided to explore the two lighthouses on the island. When we were done we headed back to find out if our cruise was on or not. We were a go. We paid for our tickets and enjoyed some lunch. We boarded the Mega Nova around 1:15 and waited for a few late comers and were on the water by around 1:45. We were told to compare the differences on the waterline as we were leaving at high tide and coming back at low tide. We were beginning to think we were not going to see any whales as we had been on the boat for about 2 1/2 hours. Finally in the distance we saw 2 whales breach. Unfortunately it was so far out that you only saw the splash. We found some humpback whales and the crew was pretty excited because they haven't seen too many of them lately. We even saw a whale breach its tail but it happened so quickly we didn't get it on film. There were 3 whales traveling in this group and as we slowly headed towards home we found another group of about three whales. It was now time to head home and it took us until almost 7:30 to get back to the car. A very memorable day.

Digby and Scallops Yummy
Today we travelled to Digby. We drove as close to the coastline as we could get. Ran into more road construction again. The tides were low and you could really see this. There were no longer cliffs like the Cabot Trail. We stopped at another lighthouse along the way in Walton. This one was open and we were able to climb to the top. We continued on and arrived in Digby around 3:00. We unloaded the car and than checked out our surroundings a little. We saw another lighthouse at Prim Point in Digby. Seems to be our theme on this trip. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner for our anniversary of scallops pan seared in garlic butter. Mine didn't last too long. They were really good.

Doing the loop of the Cabot Trail and heading to Truro
Today the day started out a little overcast. We packed our bags and enjoyed breakfast and headed off to do the Cabot Trail loop. The first half was gorgeous with its twisted roads and cliffs on the St Lawrence side. The second half was nice but a lot more trees and rounded cliffs on the Atlantic side. We stopped in to check out a waterfall but it was a little disappointing as there wasn't a lot of water running. We were hoping to see another moose but was not so lucky this time. We took a small ferry across approximately 100 meters of water. We were a little surprised that with all our little stops we didn't get to Truro until 6:00. We enjoyed some dinner at Frank and Gino's Pasta Place. It was a nice change from Seafood. Not that we haven't enjoyed seafood. Tonight we will plan our day a little for tomorrow and relax.

Exploring the Cabot Trail and Golfing (Day 4)
We woke up to another beautiful day. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and spoke with a few travellers staying at the same Inn. We decided to head to the Visitor Centre first and see what we could do in the few hour visit we had. The lady we spoke to recommended we head to Pleasant Bay and if we were lucky it was still early enough to see a Moose. We were lucky and saw a female along the side of the road. The views were quite beautiful to watch. The water was fairly rough. There is a lot of construction on the road so we encountered quite a few delays. By the time we reached Pleasant Bay it was almost time to go home. We stopped and, enjoyed an ice cream here and than headed back home to get ready for a round of golf. We played at LePortage Golf Club. We had to learn how to use a new set of clubs but it was fun to get out. Had an issue with bugs while playing. My neck feels raw from black fly bites. We came back home for a little rest and went to a restaurant for dinner called All Aboard. The snow crab was delicious. Afterwards we walked along a small boardwalk and watched the sunset. Was very relaxing and enjoyable.

Next Stop Cheticamp (Day 3)
Today we enjoyed a leisurely morning, slept in a bit, packed our bags and headed to the Westminster Bible Presbyterian Church. They were without a minister as well and had a guest minister from Oklahoma. It was a small church and the people were very friendly. After church we headed to the town of Baddeck and we saw the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site. We even saw another lighthouse here. Next we headed to Cheticamp along the Cabot Trail. We are staying at Maison Fiset House, a bed and breakfast place. The room is quite nice. We are in the main house. We went for a drive to find out where the golf course was for tomorrow's game and than drove up to the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. We then went for dinner at Le Gabriel and did a bit more exploring. It started to rain so we headed home to relax for the rest of the evening.
