Long Bay

Another fun round on the golf course. Today we played Long Bay. We were able to start on hole one this time. We have played this course twice before and both times we had started on hole 10. We were really surprised again at how few people were golfing. When we arrived the people at the course were not even ready yet to unload our clubs.  This course was a bit harder than the course we played on Saturday and neither of us played as well either. We still had fun though.

After golf we picked up a few more groceries and went back to the condo. Ralph had worked all night so he went for a snooze.   The waves at the beach were quite high so we brought our cameras to the water to capture some of them. Grace had purchased a new cover for her camera which she was testing out.   Before heading back we enjoyed a hot tub to ease some aching muscles.

We wanted to stay close to the condo so we didn't make it a late night and had dinner again at the Carolina Ale House.

We ended the evening with our competition again. Today it was adding holes 3. 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 and subtracting the putts on holes 2, 7, 13 and 17.  Ralph won another round with the lowest score.

A Day of Rest

Today was a nice easy day. We enjoyed a bit of a sleep in until 8:00 while Grace and Ralph had been out and about taking sunrise pictures.   We had breakfast and than headed off to church. The minister we had used to listen to retired and we had a sermon from a new minister.  He had announced that the Canadian invasion was starting.

We went back to the condo and relaxed and did some reading today. Grace went to the Pier to take some pictures.

Ralph and Grace out did themselves with tonight's dinner. Ralph made Chateaubriand.  Asparagus, potatoes and salad were served with it. Awesome meal.

Getting excited to play another round of golf.  So far the weather has been great.

Full Day Today

What an exciting day today.  We were up at 6:00 and headed next store to the restaurant for breakfast at 6:30. Today we golfed at Beachwood Golf Course.  When we got there we were ahead of the team scheduled before us so we were told we could tee off right away. No warm up today.   My golf has not been great lately so overall I was pleased with my game. The weather has been gorgeous so it made it more fun to play.  We saw a hawk on the course and our usual Egrets and Herons.

After golf we did some shopping. We found our favourite Chico store and did well there.

We headed to Pawleys Island where we bought some meat to cook for tomorrow's supper. At breakfast time we heard the waitress mention a restaurant called The Rustic Table. We happened to drive by it and thought it might be get be a good place to eat.   We were not disappointed. Lawrence and I ordered the meatloaf. I'm sure one meal could have fed us both and the taste was delicious Leftovers for lunch.  Grace enjoyed some Pecan Crusted Flounder on her salad.

We are spending the evening watching a movie tonight and putting our feet up after enjoying a nice hot tub.

Ralph won our first mini competition but not by much.  Today was aiding up all your par fours plus your putts. Ralph had 81 and Lawrence 83.  Grace wasn't far behind and Teresa had fun. Great start to the week.

We have Arrived!!

After a broken sleep (must be the excitement), morning finally came.  We had packed our bags and loaded the car and then had a quick breakfast.  We were on the road by 8:00 am. We had a 3 1/2 hour drive to get to Myrtle Beach.  The trip went very quickly.  We enjoyed the sun's rays streaming through a few clouds.  We arrived to early to get our room so we went for lunch at The Grilled Cheese and Crab Cakes Company.  What a way to start our time in Myrtle Beach.  Yummy.  We checked out a few stored and could finally go to the hotel and get our room.  Bags are in the room and we relaxed on the Balcony listening to the ocean waves.  How awesome to relax this way.  They put up a red flag warning people not to go in the water due to the currents.  We had expected the water to be higher than what it was.  The beaches were busy with people.

For dinner tonight we went to The Carolina Ale House.  This is a new restaurant not to far from the hotel.  They had one of the best salads I have enjoyed in a long time.  It was a Chicken Apple Walnut Salad that also had Cucumber and dried cranberries in it with a Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing.  Will certainly go back there to eat again.

We have come back to the hotel finishing off unloading our suitcases, packing our lunch for tomorrow and loading up our golf bags.  We are all set for tomorrows round which starts at 7:52.  Looking forward to our first round of golf.

Underneath each of these cards is our challenge for the day which we will draw after we have played our game of golf and whoever wins the challenge gets a giftcard from Golf Town.  Adding a little excitement to our game.

Off to Myrtle Beach again

Here we go again.  Can't believe it has been a year ago when we got evacuated from Myrtle Beach. Two years in a row we had floods and we are hoping that this year will not be the same.  We were on the road by 5:00 am and had a smooth ride to Archdale North Carolina where we are staying at the Hampton Inn.  We arrived at approximately 6:30 pm with a temperature of 31 degrees.   We got settled in our room, enjoyed a quick drink and went to Liberty Steakhouse and Brewery for dinner.  Dinner was ok but not a place we would race back to.  Tomorrow we have a short drive of approximately 4 hours to get to our resort. We have been busy planning things to do and look forward to our rounds of golf.   My camera got packed away in the car so hopefully I will be taking more pictures in the following week.

Rain, rain, rain, showers

Today we slept in a bit as we woke up to pouring rain.  We decided golfing was out of the picture.  We had not really gone out and done any shopping yet, so we found a Tanger Outlet Mall to go to.  We managed to get a little wet during our escapade but nothing too serious.  After shopping we restocked some drinks for the evening and then went home to figure out where to go for dinner.  We went to The Print House Bistro.   The food was again delicious.  Grace and I finished our meal with an Irish Coffee.  Yummy.

Greensboro National Golf Course

Today we got up a little after 7:00 and started packing our bags as it was time to move on from our Hotel.  We had some breakfast and loaded the car and headed off to Greensboro National Golf Course.  When we arrived I think the only people there were employees.  We decided to play as it was only a fine drizzle happening.  The course was very nice but because it was wet it plays completely different and the greens are much slower.  We had a lot of fun and surprisingly played quite well.  We had a competition today where on all the par fives we had to play the hole with one club only.    This same club had to be used for all par fives.  Ralph had used a seven iron, Lawrence used his hybrid wood, Grace had used her driver and I had used my three wood.    The lowest score of the 4 par fives was 30 won by Lawrence.   We found out it really isn't that easy to putt with your woods.  Still added some fun to the game.  On the tenth hole the rains started getting heavier and we debated whether we would continue or not.  We finished the tenth hole and the rains almost stopped.  We continued on and managed a complete round.  After our round we had a little lunch and a drink and then headed to our new hotel.  We are now at the Hilton Garden Inn in Greensboro.  We brought our bags to our room and then decided to go to Darryls Fireside Grill for supper.  Was very filling and tasted delicious.  We came back to the room to relax.  Tomorrow they are calling for heavier rains so we plan on doing some shopping.  Golf is probably done for the week but a great time was enjoyed by all.
