Sunday - A day of rest

Today we slept in a little and enjoyed the breezes coming from the balcony.  Grace was up early and took a nice sunrise picture.  I slept - I guess I needed that more.  We went to the Presbyterian Church again and met up with Sanya Bezuyens parents and a young couple from Sandra and Sean's church the Brouwers.

We had packed our lunch and headed off to Huntington Beach to see what kind of birds we could see.  Today there were a lot of storks.  Grace and Ralph got some great shots of the Ospreys with their fish in their talons eating a meal.  I was a little disappointed that we didn't see any alligators this trip so we decided to go down this one lane to see if we could see any there.  We got eaten alive by mosquitos but we did manage to see a few small alligators and a frog that were well camouflaged.  Made my day,  I guess this means it is ok to go home now.

The Witch

Today was our last round of golf in Myrtle Beach. We played  the Witch. We were so used to the heat and humidity that we weren’t prepared for the cooler day when we arrived. Grace and I ended up buying a long sleeve sweater to keep warm. I ended up wearing it the whole round. Today on the course we saw a black moccasin snake and a stork.   I just love seeing the different animals each game we have played.  I must admit the cooler temperatures helped my game a lot. I shot my best game today.  Woohoo. I do like the cooler temperatures.  Without realizing it we found out that we I were getting a free lunch. Not the best lunch but still anything free is good. Grace and I had the egg salad sandwich and Lawrence had 2 hot dogs. The lunch also included 2 beers for the men. Grace and I ordered a bud light lime as they had no wine but we could only get 1 plus a cost of .40 cents.  We also each got a bag of chips.

Ralph dropped Lawrence and I off at the hotel while Grace and Ralph went for an oil change. Lawrence and I figured out where to go for supper. We made a pot of coffee and relaxed for a while.  You could tell the weather was a bit cooler because there was hardly any one on the beach.

For supper we went to Market Commons to a restaurant called Tupelo Honey. We chose this restaurant because they’re  were suppose to have a really good she-crab soup. Unfortunately when we got there it was no longer on the menu. Oh well, the food was still good. While leaving we were just about to leave Market Commons when we had a flashing blue light behind us. We didn’t think we did anything wrong. The police approached the car asking if we knew why he pulled us over. We all said no.  Apparently Ralph’s headlights didn't turn on automatically. He thinks when they did the oil change that they had turned them off.   The officer was very kind and let us off with a warning.

Tonight we didn’t have to go to bed right away because we could sleep in, in the morning. We decided to watch the movie that Grace had purchased Unplanned.  The movie makes you think about life choices you make. Not all of them the correct choice.

Indian Wells

Today we golfed Indian Wells. It was another hot and humid day. I really enjoyed the course even though I did not play it well.  Every day we golf we see more animals or birds. Today Grace saw a hummingbird as we were waiting to go to the first tee.   The fifth hole had a hawk flying around but it was in between the trees that you couldn’t get a photo of it.   Today we saw one of the brown and black cormorants.  We also saw a squirrel trying to cool down by laying flat out in the shade. Never saw a squirrel do that before. Once we finished our round we went into the shop and found out they were closing the course in December and they are going to build residences in the area. Glad we were able to golf it before they close.

After golfing in all the heat it sure felt good to have a swim in the pool.  Lawrence had a dip in the ocean first while I waited for him in the pool.  The water was pretty warm again but still refreshing.

We picked up some chicken, asparagus and twice baked potatoes for supper at the market. For dessert we went to Ben and Jerry’s and enjoyed some ice cream. Yummy.

The Legends - Moorland

Today we golfed The Legends - Moorland Course.  This was one of the hottest days we golfed. Because of the heat I found it very difficult to golf. I was lucky if I could drive a 100 yards.  We were a little early getting there and as we were waiting we could feel the humidity starting. One exciting thing we saw on the course was a bunch of turtles. It was like they were coming to us looking for food. It was really cool to see.   The course was very difficult with the greens as they all seemed to go downhill from the flag.  If you overshot, you were bound to go down a hill.

Tonight we went our for dinner for the first time since we hit Myrtle Beach. We went to one of our favourite places, The Wicked Tuna. Ralph and Grace ordered the 3 lobster tails, Lawrence ordered the Imperial and I had the Flounder. We had an appetizer of Bang Bang Grouper altogether. Each of us really enjoyed our meals. So yummy. The day just seemed to fly by.

Eagle Nest

Today we golfed at Eagle Nest. The course was very pretty to look at.   It was also very lady friendly. The guys were playing the blues and the ladies played the reds. Sometimes there was over a 150 yard advantage.

Often I forget to pull out my camera and when I see the shots Grace has taken I am embarrassed with what I have.

We have been amazed at the different types of birds we have noticed this year. Today Grace saw a Kingfisher and even got it on film. We also saw a Turkey Vulture which looked like it had a small snake in its mouth. Not the prettiest bird we have seen.

We enjoyed our lunch at the course with a drink. The weather was quite nice but the last few holes were getting pretty warm again.

After golf we enjoyed a bit of retail therapy.   When we got back to our room the Osprey were busy catching fish again. It is really an awesome sight to see them glide.

Ralph cooked the steak and we enjoyed the last of the Nasi and left over potatoes with some beans. We have been very spoiled with Ralph’s cooking.  Looking forward to tomorrow’s adventures.

Glen Dornoch Golf Club

Another early morning wake up call at 5:55.  We went for breakfast next door at the Sea Captains house again.  This morning I thought I would try the scrambled eggs again as last year I had gotten heartburn from them.  Turns out as the day progressed the heartburn was starting.  I guess I will lay off the scrambled eggs.

Today we played Glen Dornoch.  The course was fun but very challenging. Lawrence unfortunately lost his protected ball.  The Black Panther decided to go for a hike in the woods.   This made Grace the winner of this game with her Captain America ball or as Grace called it Captain Marvelous.  After our round we went for a drink along the Little River waterfront which allowed us to watch the boats go by.

We came back to the hotel and enjoyed a happy hour together.  Afterwards Grace went out and did a bit of shelling, Ralph went to exercise his knee and enjoyed a dip in the ocean.  Lawrence and I went to the pool for a swim.  Lawrence did go in the ocean first before joining me in the pool.  The pool was very refreshing.  Not too cold but just the way I like it.

Leftovers were for supper and a nice relaxing night planned.
