Rain, rain, rain, showers

Today we slept in a bit as we woke up to pouring rain.  We decided golfing was out of the picture.  We had not really gone out and done any shopping yet, so we found a Tanger Outlet Mall to go to.  We managed to get a little wet during our escapade but nothing too serious.  After shopping we restocked some drinks for the evening and then went home to figure out where to go for dinner.  We went to The Print House Bistro.   The food was again delicious.  Grace and I finished our meal with an Irish Coffee.  Yummy.

Greensboro National Golf Course

Today we got up a little after 7:00 and started packing our bags as it was time to move on from our Hotel.  We had some breakfast and loaded the car and headed off to Greensboro National Golf Course.  When we arrived I think the only people there were employees.  We decided to play as it was only a fine drizzle happening.  The course was very nice but because it was wet it plays completely different and the greens are much slower.  We had a lot of fun and surprisingly played quite well.  We had a competition today where on all the par fives we had to play the hole with one club only.    This same club had to be used for all par fives.  Ralph had used a seven iron, Lawrence used his hybrid wood, Grace had used her driver and I had used my three wood.    The lowest score of the 4 par fives was 30 won by Lawrence.   We found out it really isn't that easy to putt with your woods.  Still added some fun to the game.  On the tenth hole the rains started getting heavier and we debated whether we would continue or not.  We finished the tenth hole and the rains almost stopped.  We continued on and managed a complete round.  After our round we had a little lunch and a drink and then headed to our new hotel.  We are now at the Hilton Garden Inn in Greensboro.  We brought our bags to our room and then decided to go to Darryls Fireside Grill for supper.  Was very filling and tasted delicious.  We came back to the room to relax.  Tomorrow they are calling for heavier rains so we plan on doing some shopping.  Golf is probably done for the week but a great time was enjoyed by all.

On The Road Again

Well, who would have thought our day would turn out the way it went today.  We got up at 5:30 and got ready for our next round of golf.  We hopped on the elevator getting ready to go for breakfast when we noticed a sign by the elevators saying we had to evacuate the building by 3:00 pm.  Hmmm.  What do we do now?  We went for breakfast and we decided not to golf.  When we went back to the hotel we were advised that we could cancel the next 3 rounds of golf booked and get a refund for two of them.  The third was a rain check we had. We went to our room and packed our bags up.  We decided to go to the golf course we had the rain check on and see if we could possibly play a round before moving on because it was only valid for a year.  We had a fun time with no pressure from anyone because no one was behind us.  This is a beautiful course and a challenging course.  Hard to get out of the long grasses and the greens were very fast.  We enjoyed some yummy she crab soup and wings and then decided to drive to Winston Salem, North Carolina.  This was about a 4 hour drive.  We were able to book the Hampton Inn for two days and also a round of golf for tomorrow.  Now we are relaxing and updating our blogs.  Pictures will be updated tomorrow as I need the computer to do that.

Pawleys Plantation

Today we were excited to golf Pawleys Plantation. This course we have played a couple of times and is very challenging. One hole is a par 3 for the women that is only 40 yards.   If you don't make it on the green it is surrounded by water.  Grace and I both made the green.  Who hoo.  The greens were tough and a lot of us had several 3 putts.  Not our best game this week but still had fun.

The winds have been picking up and it has not been as hot as former days.  You could see the waves changing direction and they were starting to have weather warnings to stay out of the water because of the currents.

We enjoyed another wonderful meal at home and did some laundry tonight.   We watched a movie together tonight and relaxed the rest of the evening.

Our only alligator siting.

Pine Lakes

Today we went golfing at Pine Lakes.  We enjoyed our round and Grace even got to celebrate with a score of 97.  Way to go Grace.  We had drew the night before for today's competition which was Protect Your Ball.  We all had a ball with a P n it.  You had to play the round with that ball.  The person who had there ball the longest without loosing it was the winner.   Ralph had the perfect shot on the first hole but do you think we could find his ball.  We figured it sunk into the ground and the grass covered over it.  Lawrence had that happen with one of his balls but we did find his back.  I was the winner (who hoo) and kept my ball until the eleventh hole.

We spent the afternoon relaxing while Ralph had to work.  Grace went back to the beach to take more photos and I went into the hot tub t relax my legs and feet.  It felt good.

For dinner we went to the Mellow Mushroom.  They had amazing Pizza that we all enjoyed.  We watched a bit of TV, made some lunches and relaxed the rest of the evening.

Sunday = Time to Relax

This morning we went to church and afterwards we came back to the hotel and enjoyed a coffee on the balcony.  It was very exciting to watch the fish jumping out of the water.  Looked like something was after them as all of a sudden you would see a big splash.

Grace and Ralph decided to go for a walk while Lawrence and I spent some time on the beach.  We went for a swim together.  We couldn't get over how warm the water was.  Even though it wasn't as wavy, the current was still quite strong.

We noticed Grace and Ralph back at the room, so we joined them and had a happy hour together.  Afterwards we all went for a swim in the ocean together.  Ralph had grabbed my ankles while in the water and scared the wits out of me.  With all the fish in these waters I wasn't so comfortable swimming in the ocean but braved it with the rest of them.

We enjoyed dinner at home tonight.  We picked up some stuffed chicken with mushrooms or spinach and cooked some potatoes and asparagus with it.  In my opinion was one of the best dinners we have had so far.

We have created little competitions which each round of golf we play.  Yesterday we played Founders Club but didn't figure out the competition until today.  The competition for today was lowest score of 3 holes. Ralph was the winner this time.

Founders Club

Today we were up by 5:30, had a quick shower and went to the Sea Captains house for breakfast.  We were greeted by Chicago, one of the gentlemen who makes the omelettes who has been working there for a few years.  Normally he is not to chatty but this morning he was quite talkative.  Made the beginning of the day quite pleasant. By 6:30 we were off to Founders Club. We were the first ones to tee off at 8:00 am.  The course was pretty wet from dew and previous rain falls.  Made the greens a little slow.  Nice course to play. Ralph had the play of the game.  His chip wedged between the flag and the hole.   We decided to go for a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch. Along the way we experienced  seeing all the bikers as it was bike week.  Some of them were quite noisy.   We headed back to the hotel to relax a bit.  Grace went with her camera along the beach. Ralph did some work and Lawrence and I had a hot tub.  Felt good on the feet which had become quite swollen from the ride down.
