Hailfax Day 4

Today the weather is not co-operating as much as we would have liked, but needless to say we made the most of it.  After giving everyone a bit of the morning to sleep in we met up at 10:30 and than headed off to Pier 21.  We saw all the boats that came into the Pier as well as going on a short tour and hearing about how things went.  We found they made it seem like a holiday voyage instead of mentioning how many people were boat sick during the ride here.  They did stress the life changes of starting over without your family and friends though.  After Pier 21 we headed to the Red Stag Tavern at Alexander Keiths for lunch.  When we finished we split up and everyone went their own separate ways for the afternoon.  Lawrence and I joined up with Liz and Ed and went to the Museum of the Atlantic and saw information on the different ships and activities that happened in the Atlantic.  We saw a 3d movies on the findings of the Titanic as well.  We are now getting ready to go to the Keg for dinner.

Halifax Day 3

We woke up to a bit cooler day.  We all headed off to Tim Horton's for some breakfast and than we did another walk along the Boardwalk.  We purchased tickets for the Silva Tall Ships sail and the Alexander Keith's Brewery tour.  The Tall Ships sail wasn't until 2:00 so we ventured to check out a record shop that sold old records, cds etc. called TAZ.  We had lunch at Cheers but didn't enjoy it as much as we did in Boston.  By the time we were ready for our Sail it started to rain a bit (nothing hard).  It made it very cool on the water but it is nice to see the city from a different view.  The Alexander Keith's tour was fun as well.  Afterwards we had a small rest in our rooms and enjoyed dinner at Durty Nelly's which had some live entertainment as well.  Tonight was a bit earlier to bed then the last few nights.

Halifax Day 2

Today was a blast.  We started the morning with renting 2 vehicles for the day and then headed off to Cora's for breakfast.   The men drove in one car and ladies in another.  After breakfast we headed towards Peggy's Cove.  Along the way we stopped at a Swissair Flight III Memorial.  The drive to Peggy's Cove was like driving through the Muskoka's.  There were lots of little lakes along the way to see.  We saw lots of signs for moose but we didn't see any at all.  The lighthouse and water was very scenic.  We enjoyed some Lobster Chowder for lunch.  We headed back to  Halifax and walked through the Public Gardens.  The flowers were beautiful.  We also walked up to Citadel Hill but it was closed already by the time we got there.  We went to Your Father's Moustache for supper on a rooftop patio and enjoyed a nice lobster dinner.  It was very tasty.  In the evening we went to the Seahorse and saw a live band.  Looking forward to seeing what tomorrow will bring.

Halifax Day 1

We arrived safely in Halifax at around  12:45.  From the airport we took a shuttle bus to the Hotel.  We booked into our rooms and unpacked and made arrangements to meet again for some Lunch/Supper as it was close to 4:00.  We browsed the city streets to get familiar with our surroundings.  We can  see that it is not fully into summer yet as everything shuts down by 6:00 o'clock except for the local pubs in the area.  It was very enjoyable to sit outside by the water and enjoy a drink.  Today the sun is supposed to be shining all day and they are expecting rain the rest of the week so we have decided to rent a car and go to Peggy's Cove for the day.  Pictures will be added to my blog at a later time as I do not have internet access from my room.  I will pay for one day that will help me add 2 days of blogging to the site.  Looking forward to doing some exploring today.

Turtle Watching

It has been a while since I have blogged last, so I have to remember how to do this again.  I thought I would share some of the sites you happen to see on the golf course.  This time we came across a turtle laying eggs.  It was really facinating to see the work the turtle has to put in to lay its eggs.  Really enjoying our weekly get togethers on the golf course with Grace H, Grace S, Arja S and Claudia L.
