Early Wake Up Calls Start Again

Today we finally get to play a round.  After breakfast we picked up a Starbucks and headed to North Carolina to play The Pearl.

The course was pretty wet and we were feeling the spray from our shots.  Some of the bunkers were pretty filled up with water.  Still, water and all it felt good to be golfing again.

From booking our courses through the Carribean we were each given a $100.00 gift certificate that can be used for clothes, golf or food.  What a pleasant surprise as we did not know this was coming.

We were playing a game that Grace created that involved 3 balls.  One for par 3, one for par 4 and one for par 5.  This was to go through all golf games we play.  If you lose your ball you can no longer collect points.  My par 5 ball is gone already.

We also played a hole where we had to use the same club for the entire hole.  Ralph won this round with a 7.  Didn't help our score but it was fun.

We stayed in and made some Nasi for dinner tonight.  It was nice to relax and catch up on some reading.  It won't be a late night as tomorrow we are playing 2 rounds.

Another great day on vacation.

More Rain and No Golf

Boo.  We woke up to more rain and the course we were supposed to play was closed.  We slept in a little longer today and headed off to the Captains House for breakfast.  Ralph still had some work to complete so we headed back to the hotel afterwards.  Grace went out to search for more shells while Lawrence and I did a bit of reading.  Seeing as the movies were free we rented another movie to watch Aloha.

We went to go do a little shopping and to our surprise most of the stores were closed.  Even went to a mall that had most of the stores closed.

When we got back to the hotel, we received a message that we could exchange our golf course for tomorrow which was Crows Nest to the Pearl West course.  Looking forward to golfing again we said sure.

Grace and I went out to do some shell searching again and while we were on the beach we saw a beautiful rainbow.  We didn't stay out to long as it started to rain again.

For dinner we went to Abuelo's.  The meal was Mexican and the food tasted great.  We will certainly come back here again.

Another day of rain.

Today we were able to sleep in a bit.  I heard Grace up already so I thought I would check out how her sunrise pictures were turning out.  There was not a lot of color in the sky this morning and you could see storms in the distance.  We enjoyed a cup of tea together while the guys continued to get a bit more sleep.  We went to the Sea Captains house for breakfast and at this point it started to rain again.  Church started at 9:30 am so by 9:10 we headed off to Faith Presbyterian Church.  It began to rain really heavy and the phones were getting flash flood warnings again.  By the time we were ready to get out of the car to enter the church we all had soakers.

The rain continued to come down but to pass some time we decided to go for a walk on the beach and do some shelling.  We were amazed at how much plastic we found on the beach.  The foam from the churning of the waters was quite thick as each wave came up along the shoreline.  It was fun checking for shells and when we weren't always paying attention we would get soaked from a wave that came in.

After shelling we came in for a coffee to warm and dry up.  We put our bathing suits on and headed for a hot tub.  It was quite relaxing.  Grace did a bit more shelling and we went back to the room to relax and do some reading.

Grace and Ralph cooked a yummy steak with potatoes and broccoli in our hotel room.  Was delicious.  Afterwards we rented a movie from the hotel and watched Little Boy.  The movie was a free offering from the hotel which we thought was a great deal.

The weather forecast for tomorrow is more rain.  We will see what tomorrow brings.

Wine Tasting and more Flood Warnings

In the afternoon we did some exploring and checked out a new winery in town.  It was called Duplin Winery and their slogan was.cool, sweet and easy. We did some taste testing and tasted 13 different wines.  We found them all very sweet when you normally are drinking a 0 sweetness wine.  After the wine tasting we were allowed to keep our glass.

We decided to go to Gordon Biersch for supper tonight.  On our way Lawrence, Grace and Ralph had gotten flash warnings on their phones warning people of some possible flash floods coming our way.  When we got to the area where Gordon Biersch is located, a lot of the shops had notices in their windows that they closed early because of the weather conditions.  The restaurant was still open so we enjoyed a nice meal.  Grace and I had popped into Charming Charlies which was still open to take a quick browse in the store.

We enjoyed an evening at the Hotel and watched the movie Furious 7.  I struggled a little to keep my eyes open but managed to get through the show.  (Might have missed some middle sections).

No Golf Today

This morning we got up and got ready for our first round of golf.  Grace had our lunch all packed up before I was even out of bed.  We packed a change of clothes as we were not sure about the weather.  As soon as we got downstairs it started to pour.  We were one of the first people at the Sea Captains house and we even had to wait for them to unlock the doors.  I guess 6:00 am comes early for them.  We enjoyed one of George,'s famous omelettes.  By 6:30 we headed off to the golf course to play International Club.  While driving we saw the flooding on the sides of the roads.  We were not sure if the course gave out rain checks so we thought we would see. It was recommended that we not play today as it was supposed to rain more and the course was pretty flooded.  We moved our game to Wednesday as we are playing a course close by on that day.  Today will be a relaxing day and maybe a little bit of shopping might get done.  We headed back to the condo and enjoyed a coffee on the balcony.  The water was pretty rough.

The tides are rising

Grace and Lawrence both chose the same wine - Rainstorm!!

Arriving in Myrtle Beach

After a restless sleep and hearing Grace leave the room at 5:30 for coffees, we slowly packed our room up and put our stuff in the car before getting some breakfast.  We were on the road by 7:00 and stopped in at the Tamarack plaza for some gas and coffee.  Just our luck the coffee shop was closed.  We drove on and were heading to Columbia to visit the Total Wines store.  We got caught up in some traffic which delayed us over an hour.  Grace and I had a little fun by the Halloween shop.  The closer we were getting to Myrtle Beach we were seeing flood warning signs.  It rained quite heavily along the way as well.  We finally arrived at the Carribean at 5:30.  We unloaded our suitcases and enjoyed a drink together.  The view from our room had showed the water as coming quite close to the edge of the shoreline.  Grace had taken a group shot of us with the water in the background but the picture just showed a white background from the clouds.  We did a little grocery shopping and enjoyed some supper at the Carolina Roadhouse.  Now we are relaxing and making lunches for tomorrow's first round of golf.  We are hoping to get a round in tomorrow but it may be a little wet.

On our way.

Whohoo.  Today has finally arrived.  Ralph and Grace were at our place at noon with coffees in hand. We loaded the few pieces of luggage we had left as we packed our suitcases the night before and were on the road by 12:05.  We started out with a temperature of 54 degrees.  The trip went very smooth with only 2 cars ahead of us at the border.  Found a new purse at the border as well so things were looking good.  We arrived in Summersville WV at around 8:30.   Watching the news we were seeing flood warnings in the area we were heading to.  Hopefully we will not be affected by this.  The bottom picture is for our reminder that we have been at the Hampton in Summersville before.
